Top of the Bay Regatta at AYC this coming Saturday!
This coming Saturday (12th February), Williamstown Sailing Club is taking part in the Top of the Bay (TOTB) inter-club challenge at Altona Yacht Club (AYC). You are invited and indeed encouraged to take part. Note that the Event is NOT at Elwood Sailing Club as was originally gazetted.
Why take part in the TOTB? Three very good reasons:
(i) Entry is free To WSC Sailors. All you need do is have your name and boat details recorded either at WSC or at AYC by 12:30 pm on Saturday. You should have already met insurance requirements if you have lodged your insurance certificate at WSC (but please check that your insurance is current for the date).
(ii) It is easy to get to AYC. You can either take your boat there by road (plenty of parking for your boat and trailer). Or you sail across from WSC, accompanied safely by the WSC Race Management Team in Club RHIBs and/or Willy 1. The same Team will accompany you on your sail back. En route, you will pass the historical Williamstown Time Ball Tower, the iconic Williamstown Beach and the internationally renown sanctuary, the Jawbone Flora and Fauna Reserve. First warning signal is no earlier than 14:00h.
(iii) But most importantly, you will get the thrill of competing in a large fleet and representing your Club in the competition to win the coveted TOTB Trophy! We need at least 10 boats in the competition to be eligible, but the more boats we have the greater our chance of winning. So please enter!
See Regatta Details here.
The estimated departure time of our fleet from WSC is 12:30 pm, but this will be confirmed closer to the date as it will be weather- and crew-dependent (light winds may mean an earlier departure, perhaps under partial tow, very heavy winds might mean that it is called off).
NB: Please let Bruce Mansfield or myself know in advance if you intend to join the fleet sailing to AYC.
I look forward to seeing you at the Event!
best wishes
Mike Lawrence
Vice Commodore
PS There will be no Saturday Series racing at WSC on the day.
