Club Closure for Roof Replacement: 12-26 Sept 22

Published Wed 07 Sep 2022

Dear Members,

Following the recent inspection and minor works on our asbestos roof, Parks Victoria have decided at their cost to replace our asbestos roofs.

To undertake the work safely, it is mandatory that the whole of Clubwill be closed to all members and visitors, including rigging deck, jetty and ramp, for the duration of the works,

Works to take place from 5pm on 12th September (next Monday) through to 5pm on Monday 26th September (2 weeks).

No Access is allowed to any part of the Club during this time, as there is a risk of harm and resultant work being halted due to safety concerns, and the timeline could then be extended.

Note that all affected areas of the Club will be audited and signed off by an Authorised Asbestos Inspector after the removal works to ensure the Club is safe to use.

Whilst this time frame is not desired, the long-term benefits are substantive not only from a financial aspect but also human - the safety of our members, visitors and the community.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, should you have any questions please contact the Commodore, Maree Fitzpatrick at commodore@williamstownsailingclub.org.au

Warm Regards,

The Committee of Management
