Hello Members,
We have a rescheduled date for the investigative work on the asbestos roof that had to be cancelled 2 weeks ago due to rain. The full club site will have to be closed to all members next week from 7pm Tuesday morning 26th July to Friday 29th July at 5pm. This includes all jetties, the slipway, rigging decks and the inside of the building. No members are allowed anywhere on site during this period.
Contractors on behalf of Parks Victoria will be undertaking some investigation and remediation works of the asbestos roof of the sailing club. Their initial investigation scope of works will involve removing and replacing 8 asbestos sheets across the various roof pitches to determine the condition of the structure below. By removing and replacing just a hand-full of sheets, they hope to inspect the structure and condition of the concealed space.
The club site must be closed for up to the 4 days due to working with asbestos. Parks Victoria and the contractor are aware that we plan to run a working bee on Saturday 30th July.
The project may be impacted by rain, which may delay the activity. If there is any change to these dates, a further email will be sent to all members.
Kind Regards
Lois Hunt
