70% Target reached- What that means for WSC Members

Published Sun 24 Oct 2021

Hi All Members and Future Members,

We are nearly there - 70% of the community over 16 years of age are now double vaxxed and we are likely to hit the 80% target by the 31st October. YEAH!!! Congratulations to all of you who have got yourself vaccinated to help your family, friends and community start to look towards a brighter future.

So, as of midnight last night there are several significant changes to the lockdown restrictions that will enhance your ability to get back to using Williamstown Sailing Club. These are:

  • You can leave your home without any restrictions – and no curfews.
  • If you live in the Melbourne metropolitan area you can travel anywhere within that area.
  • Sorry, if you live outside Melbourne, you are still not allowed to access the club.
  • You can access the club toilets, but no other parts of the building except boat storage and fishing lockers. You cannot access change rooms till we reach 80% target.

There are still some very relevant health and safety restrictions we need all members and your visitors to follow if you come the Club:

  • Only come onto the site via the gates
  • Register with the QR code
  • Wear masks at all times while in the building or on the rigging decks and jetties
  • Follow the usual recommendations about handwashing, distancing from others etc.
  • Do not come to the Club if you are unwell.

As it looks like Victoria will reach the 80% target by 31st October, we will have one working bee on Saturday 6th November, in preparation for our Opening Day of the Season on Saturday 13 November. More details of these events will be distributed closer to those dates.

I hope many of you are able to enjoy the sailing, fishing and kayaking from the Club over the next week or so. It won’t be long till we are fully open for access to all of the Club and spending time together.

Kind Regards

Lois Hunt
