Australian Sailing - 5. Start Sailing 1 and Start Sailing 2
Course information
This course is sold out.
This course enables participants to handle a small dinghy with confidence, so that sailing becomes both safe and enjoyable. The course involves classroom theory and on-the-water training. You will learn to rig a dinghy, tie knots, read weather maps and understand the basic rules and regulations of sailing. Learning is incremental during the course so we encourage you to be available for all advertised sessions.
Course Fees
$410 Adult
$330 WSC Sailing Member- adult
$290 Junior 12-18 years / full time student 18 - 25 years
$230 WSC Sailing Member - junior 12-18 years / full time student 18 - 25 years
We also provide a Learn to Sail for Teens course (see website for details)
Please Note: Each registration will incur an additional $20 Australian Sailing Booking Fee and a payment gateway fee of 2% + $1.60 applies to all online transactions
Additional Prerequisite:
Participants must be able to swim at least 50 metres in a life jacket
Course Inclusions
- 22 hrs tuition with an Australian Sailing qualified instructor
- Certificate upon graduation
- Course materials, boats and life jackets are provided

Who should do this course?
This course is designed for participants who wish to begin sailing in a dinghy. All the equipment and gear will be provided by your accredited Discover Sailing Centre.
Course Outcome
You will gain your Start Sailing 1 And Start Sailing 2 completion certificate.
We recognise that some of our course participants are completing the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award and may be using sailing and/or club membership to complete one or more sections of The Award. To learn more, click here.
