Saturday Series Racing
(See Calendar at bottom of page)
Saturday Series Racing is governed by the terms and conditions in the associated Notice of Race (NOR) and Sailing Instructions (SI). These are available on the “Racing Documentation” page and may be updated during the course of the season. The NoR and Si are also made available via the Sailor app. Sailors will be notified of any change via the sailor app, website and/or by email when changes are made. Our sailing calendar can be downloaded (link below) or located on our Event Calendar page and via the sailor app.
All series races will commence at 2:00 pm (14:00) (first Division start time on the water), with a pre-race competitor briefing at 12:50 Attendance at the pre-race briefing is highly recommended for all skippers and/or their crew, as it is at this meeting that any last-minute changes to the course or any special safety issues will be raised.
On days when two races are scheduled, competitors can enter either or both races. Note that time cut-offs may be applied to finishing, as detailed in the Notice of Race and in the Sailing Instructions (found here).
The Club conducts mixed fleet and Club and Class championship races over the season (refer calendar). All skippers need to ensure that they have uploaded a Safety Declaration and Insurance Certificate for the boat that they are sailing in the series, even if they are not the owner of the boat before signing on in Club Ops.
1. Club Championship Series
· The all-fleet winner of the Series (i.e., the Club Champion) will be determined based on yardstick.
2. Class Championship Series
This Series will also be used to determine all perpetual trophies (including the Bernie Simmonds Memorial Trophy, Noel Hutchinson Memorial Trophy, Jack Dickson Memorial Trophy, Cheryl Pride-Olsen Memorial Trophy) as well as the Club Junior Champion and the Miscellaneous Class Champion.
· Scores from Top of the Bay Regatta will also count towards this Series, as the Club actively supports participation in the Top of the Bay event.
3. Club Regatta Series
· The Club Regatta will be run over a single weekend as a separate Series
· The all-fleet winner of the Series will be determined based on yardstick
· Separate winners may be determined for classes or divisions
4. Other racing – Friday’s, training and social sailing events
Note that the Club in conjunction with the RYCV and HBYC will run a fifth season targeted at Junior, youth and Novice sailors, on Friday nights during February and March.
An all-club training day is scheduled on November 16th with a focus on safety, rescue and rules.
Social Sailing is scheduled on Saturdays within long weekends and at the end of the season – on these days, pre-sail briefing will be at 12.30pm, with launch immediately after that briefing.
